I read everything. Habfive is a small app made by one person, so a reply may take a few days.
Moving to a new phone
Sign the new phone into the same iCloud account and open Habfive. Your habits mirror to your own private iCloud, so they arrive on their own — there is no account to recover and nothing to type in.
If they do not appear, check that you are signed into iCloud and that Habfive is switched on there. Habfive's own Settings screen says which of the two it is: whether it is syncing, or storing locally because it could not reach iCloud.
Sync is not a backup. Deleting Habfive — or using Delete all data — removes your habits from iCloud too. For that, use a file:
- On the old phone: Settings → Export as JSON, save it somewhere you will still have it
- On the new phone: Settings → Restore from a backup, pick that file
Restoring replaces everything currently stored. Merging two histories has no correct answer, so Habfive does not try.
Once a week the app writes that same export by itself and keeps the last four. They are in Habfive's folder in Files, and they are ordinary JSON.
Common questions
Can I track more than five habits?
No. The limit is the product, not a paywall — there is nothing to buy and nothing to unlock. Past five, a habit tracker becomes a to-do list and stops working. When you want a sixth, one of the first five has to be finished or dropped.
Why does it ask why I missed a day?
Because the answer is the useful part. A single miss is noise; the same obstacle three times is a badly designed habit, and that is something the app can help you change — by making it smaller, moving its trigger, or dropping a day of the week it was never going to happen on.
Why did my chain survive a missed day?
You have two forgiven days a month, per habit. They refill on the first.
Reminders are not arriving.
Check that notifications are allowed for Habfive in iOS Settings. Reminders also stay silent while a pause is active, and the evening reminder only arrives if something is still unchecked — a finished day is meant to be quiet.
Where is my data?
On your phone, and mirrored to your own private iCloud database so a second device picks it up. That is Apple's transport into your Apple account — I cannot read it, and there is no server of mine anywhere. Nowhere else. See Privacy.
I deleted the app. Can I get my habits back?
Only from an export or a full device backup. Deleting Habfive removes its data from iCloud as well — sync keeps two devices in step, it does not keep a copy for you, and there is no server of mine holding one.
